Community magazine – Barrhaven Photographer

One of the best parts of being a Barrhaven photographer is getting to know the extraordinary families who live in the community.

If you’re not familiar with the Neighbours of West Barrhaven & Cedarhill magazine, it’s a micro-local magazine that profiles individuals and families – our neighbours in West Barrhaven & Cedarhill, as well as Stonebridge, Manotick, and Stittsville – and shares their unique stories and perspectives, while also providing a great platform for businesses to advertise products and services tailored to the community.

When I was approached to become the new family feature photographer for the magazine, I was excited at the prospect about learning more about the charitable work, advocacy, business acumen and family lives of my neighbours.

For my first issue, I was fortunate to photograph Kerry Monaghan and her family – long-time neighbours who also happen to be family friends. Kerry and her husband Pat have been advocates for diversity and inclusion for many years, and Kerry is a powerful voice for the Ontario Autism Community, using her considerable talent for communication to Bring Invisible Barriers to Light – the title of this month’s profile article.

I hope you’ll take a moment and read about the Monaghan’s inspirational approach, and give some thought to other local families who deserve to be recognized for their commitment to betterment of our shared community.
